l started taking Zyban (Buproprion 150mg) to quit smoking, it has worked like a charm for that, however l am having extremely violent nightmares, what is especially disturbing is that in these nightmares l am ussualy murdering people in very horrific ways, which is completely out of charactor for me. l am concerned that there is some underlying violent nature inside of me or even worse that l may act out one of these dreams while l am asleep. Any suggestions to abate these nightmares is greatly appreciated.
l had a similar dream about my ex-wife, except that l killed her with a dagger.

Buproprion and Nightmares

Call your doctor and stop taking that med! I took Ambien (prescribed) for about 3 nights to help me sleep - I started having really bad nightmares, too. In one dream, I saw my ex-husband dead and all bloody lying on the ground in front of me. I hate him but I would not wish that on him, so it bothered me a great deal! My guess is that some meds activate the part of the brain which can cause violent, disgusting behavior.
