Ok, l am 23 and l have been smoking heavily since l was 16. Right now l smoke more than a pack a day. My husband also smokes about a pack a day. l can honestly say l am EXTREMLY ADDICTED to cigarettes. Anyway, my grandpa had a stroke last year due to cigarettes. He is 72 and has smoked all his life. After this l decided to quit smoking. My husband said he would quit with me. We set a date of June 15th to quit smoking.
Now that is about 2 weeks away, l am getting kind of nervous. l plan on using the patch, but the thought of just giving it up is actually kind of scary. And l know that the thought of lung cancer or a stroke is scarier, but right now l am just wondering how l should go about quitting. l know l have to just stop, not stop gradually. l heard about prescription medication, Zyban, to help with quitting. l was just wondering does Zyban help? Does anyone have any other suggestions? No matter what, l am going to quit, but l just wanna make sure my first try is sucessful.
l chose June 15th to quit smoking because l am a 6th grade school teacher (l know, l know... Do not worry, none of my students know l smoke) but sometimes the kids drive me so totally nuts that after school l literally am dying for a cigarette. So, l figured june 15th is the last day of scool and it would be easier for me to quit over the summer. Not to mention to mention the horrible mood l would be in with my students if l quit during the school year.
