l will being using Nicorette gum shortly after my Zyban starting period is over. My question before l start using the Nicorette gum.Can l swallow my own saliva while using the drug? l know with Chew you have to spit. According to the drug fact sheet it says not to drink 15mins before or during the use of the gum.

Chantix is kinda out of the question because of the growing suicidal reports and its not offered by my insurance. (although my doctor will prescribe it, l would have to pay full price..)

Well first off congrats on taking the first step to quit smoking - i did & it was one of the best decisions in my life! I went for Nicorette patch & i think with the gum it is ok to swallo because instead of smoking, the gum replenishes ur system with nicotine minus all that cancer causing agents. Eventually thru' the weeks ur dosage will be reduced until hey presto - u dun need no nicotine in ur system. Oh that & frens who dun bait u & offer u 'lites' as a joke to prevent u from quitting!!

I would actually suggest a prescription drug called Chantix (spelling) I have known quite a few people who have quit smoking using it. It shuts off the craving for the cigarette. You actually smoke for the first 10 days while taking it i think, because it does not contain nicotine or anything. Than u gradually reduce ur number of cigarettes & within a couple weeks you're smoke free. You still take the medicine for a few weeks after that, but when you're done, you're done.
